I have just realized that people in Nashville dont know how to drive. Being from Atlanta everything is full speed ahead and you better use your turn signal or you are going to be crushed by that 18 wheeler flying up behind you. Here in Nashvegas people drive about 10 miles an hour UNDER the speed limit and I went the whole day today without seeing one person use their turn signal. Also, there is something about the fact that people cant drive their carts (buggy if you are from GA) in Wal-Mart. It may take you a good ten minuets to get to sporting goods since there is a traffic jam or carts that are occupied by no one! Come on! you dont just park your car in the middle of the highway now do you? Ok well maybe up here you do.
For the past 2 years, incase you don’t know, I have been attending a campus of North Point Ministries. First I interned under Chris Briley at North Point Community Church. After the summer was over I moved to Browns Bridge Community Church a brand new campus, where I worked as a production assistant. It’s been almost a year now and I have left Browns Bridge (hopefully not permanently) and am moving to another NPMI church.
Cumberland Church in Franklin (pinky out), TN is a smaller strategic partner of NPMI. The church is currently meeting at The W (www.w274.com) in Franklin. Today was my first Sunday to visit, so the family and I went down to the one and only service at 10am. The church is very northpoint-esk with all the lights and sound. It is sort of funny to have line arrays and a PM5d for about 200 people. We saw a sermon from about three years ago when Andy did a two week series on doubt.
Today the church announced that they would be changing locations into a permanent building (no more move in and out each week). We drove to the new location which was only a mile or so away and the build we found made us laugh slightly. I have added some photos just so you get the full effect. Just so you know the entire budget for the new building is right at 300K. Yep and FOH will be in the balcony. The front of the New building.
After Church and lunch we came back to the house and finished up some projects. It was then time to say goodbye to my parents and brother. This was hard and I will miss them all! Thanks again guys for all you mean to me! I LOVE YOU!
So today was move in day! The campus was insane, So many freshmen and their families sitting and waiting to move into their 10×10 cinderblock room (prison cell). Luckily I was not one of them, and fortunately I did not even see the campus today; I just heard that it was insane. I did move-in today however. My family all drove up yesterday and spent the night to start working today. There was lots to be done today, but we had to start with a good healthy breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes at the Pancake Pantry, which in Nashville is equivalent to The Varsity in Atlanta. After we ate it was time to start work so we headed to my home for the next two years, 2203 Lindell Ave Nashvegas, Tennessee 37204. The house, well it’s 1900 square feet and has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Located in the “Woodland and Waverly” historic district, AKA GHETTO. The street leading to my home, Benton ave, is the historic district with the homes larger than any person needs, and plenty of BMWs sitting outside. My street is only 7 houses away from being million plus property. It is nice though and the area is turning. I will say that up the street there is a nice old McDonalds, which is now a drive-thru package store. Anyways… I am happy with where I will be staying and think it is a great place. So we put together my desk, which I still say is worth what I paid, even if my mom disagrees. There were a few projects to do, hang some towel bars, build a bookshelf, clean, unpack and so on. Nathan took on the daunting task of setting up my desk and wiring up everything that will keep me running for the next two years. After unpacking and setting up the room we made a trip to Wally World to go shopping which we did in RECORD speed, and Nathan loved every minuet of it. We returned to finish some projects and put away food. By this time it was about 9 at night central time (Nashville is an hour behind the rest of the world). We decided to then go eat at Longhorns behind our hotel. This is where the name for this blog entry comes from. My dad, whom never orders sweet tea, decided that for some random reason tonight was the night to do so. Dinner was going well and everyone was tired but then about half way through the sweet tea my dad lost it. I mean there were some of the most random things coming out of his mouth, For instance: Nashville Ice Trucker, and then Gumby the ice road trucker. Then Nathan, whom tried to drink all my water at once since I was suffering through hot wings, sucked up a lemon seed. This was then spit out randomly onto a plate with such force that it caused it to ricochet across the table. I laughed and snorted lemonade up my nose. The whole dinner went downhill from there. We were quite boring after dinner so we went to bed because heavens knows that my dad needed some sleep or something.
